FAQs

Q: How common is bladder weakness?
A: More common than most people think. It is estimated that up to one in three women today suffer to some degree with bladder weakness. This can affect women of all ages and may occur at any time, but often starts in pregnancy, after childbirth, or during menopause.

Q: What causes stress incontinence ?
A: Stress incontinence - leaking when there's some pressure put on the bladder, usually when sneezing, coughing, laughing and exercising - starts when the pelvic floor muscles that support the bladder and womb are weakened. Pregnancy and childbirth is the most common cause. During pregnancy, hormonal changes allow pelvic muscles to relax and expand and are often further weakened at delivery. Some women notice they leak right after birth, but for others the changes don't become a problem until menopause when the loss of the female hormone estrogen makes matters worse.

Q: What does Contiform do?
A: Contiform can give you immediate and lasting control of everyday bladder weakness. With regular use it can work in harmony with conventional pelvic floor exercises to bring about long-term improvement in muscle tone.

Q: How does Contiform work?
A: Contiform is softly contoured to be worn discretely and comfortably inside the vagina to support the urethra and restore your body's natural anatomy. It works in an entirely different way to anything that has been available up until now.

Q: When should I use Contiform?
A: It's up to you. You can wear Contiform all day ? use it when you're exercising, or whenever you need to.

Q: Is Contiform comfortable to use?
A: Contiform is easy and comfortable to use once you have found the size that is right for you. Some women find, just like using tampons for the first time, that it may take a little practice to get used to.

Q: Why is Contiform available in different sizes?
A: Because every woman is different. And so we want to ensure that there is a suitable size for you. So you can be confident whilst you are wearing Contiform.

Q: How do I know which size is right for me?
A: Your Starter pack contains all 3 sizes (small, medium and large), a removal ribbon and a tutorial DVD. Try the medium size first. Once inserted it should feel comfortable and prevent leakage. If it doesn't feel comfortable or you have difficulty emptying your bladder when you are wearing it, you will need to swap to the smaller size. Alternatively, if the Medium is comfortable but you find that you're still leaking you will need to swap to the large size. Please do not throw away the two devices that you currently don't need, as you may require them in the future - due to hormonal and other reasons you may need a different size.

Q: How do I clean and store Contiform?
A: Contiform must be removed at least once every 24 hours for cleaning. It should be washed with warm water and non-perfumed soap after each use. Do not boil or place Contiform in the miocrowave during cleaning as this will reduce its effectiveness. After washing, dry Contiform thoroughly and put it in the Contiform storage compact until you need to use it again.

Q: How long can I use one Contiform for?
A: One Contiform can be used for up to 45 days or more depending on how often you use it before it needs to be replaced. The device needs to be replaced when it starts to crack. You can buy replacement Contiform packs in the size which works best for you.

Q: When shouldn't I use Contiform?
A: You should not use Contiform: During sexual intercourse. If you have any vaginal infections such as thrush. If you have any vaginal erosions or soreness. If you have cystitis (bladder infection). If you are using an IUD. Not within 2 months of having a baby.

Q: Can I use Contiform if I am pregnant?
A: If you are pregnant please seek advice from your gynaecologist, as to whether Contiform is suitable for you. Contiform should only be used if approved by your gynaecologist.

Q: Do I need to check with my Health Professional before using Contiform?
A: This is only necessary if you are leaking constantly, have had any form of bladder surgery or suffer from a previously diagnosed condition affecting the bladder. In these cases, you must contact your health professional before using Contiform. If you experience any irritation or vaginal discharge during use, remove Contiform and contact your health professional.
